Karen Rimicans joined the Falkland Islands Karate Club in 2003. As a Japan Karate Association student, Karen achieved her 1st Dan in 2000 in examination by Chief Instructors Sensei J. Wood and Sensei K Enoeda (1935 - 2003). Karen has been studying the art of Shotokan Karate since 1992. She acknowledges the valuable support given to her by Instructor Sensei R. Bower and her local karate-ka in Dunfermline, Fife.

Leicester Karate Club Chief Instructor Dave Wilkins 6th Dan member of Shotokan Ryu Kase Ha and Kazoku Kai International Senior squad coach. Dave was initially training to become an anthlete and in particular the 800m event through his training he received at Moat Boys School in Leicester. Due to changing schools, however, this training soon stopped and Dave decided to join Leicester Karate Club in 1979 in order to keep up his fitness levels. Karate soon took over and became a source of inspiration and in 1985 when the club instructor at the time decided to move to pastures new it was handed to Dave to develop further. Dave Willkins has now been training at the Leicester Karate Club for the last 30 years and is still going strong having passed his 6th Dan in July 2007 in Tampere, Finland under Master Kase's Shihan Kai (senior group).
In April 2009, Dave was made an honory member of the Rengokai by Isamu Arikaki 10th Dan Shorin Ryu.
Dave Wilkins is continuing to strive for excellence in this fascinating Martial Art, not only for himself but for all the student's he teaches. A full time karate student and 28 years as a karate teacher, he is devoted to furthering his knowledge and ability, forged by quality teacher's such as Steve Cattle 6th Dan and Taiji Kase 9th Dan.
